Interfleet Certification Ltd (ICL) is a company within the Interfleet group, which is appointed by the UK Department for Transport to act as a notified body in accordance with the European Council (EC) Directives on the interoperability of the European rail system.

The scope of ICL's appointment covers all assessment module options in every high-speed and conventional rail subsystem. ICL's assessment and certification against Technical Specifications for Interoperability (TSIs) is recognised throughout Europe. In the UK ICL can also certify compliance with Notified National Technical Rules (NNTRs) and undertake detailed assessment of vehicle/infrastructure compatibility.

ICL's processes ensure that the independence and competence management requirements of its appointment are rigorously maintained.

Resources are brought into ICL as needed from within the whole Interfleet group to meet the needs of individual projects.
